Driving through Iowa we came upon a town called Elk Horn that has the largest Danish settlement in the country. They even brought a real windmill from Denmark and reassembled it. We wanted to eat danish food while we were here, but while there were tantalizing pastries, the main dishes were usually some kind of pickled meat, so we headed into Omaha for lunch and found a spanish district and had cuban food. So in one afternoon we visited two worlds of our heritage, my mom's and Eliasib's.
